So, last week was my birthday.

You know how you kind of expect at least someone to say something? Yeah, well—no one did. Not my wife, not my parents, not even my kids. Total silence.

I figured, okay… maybe they’re planning something later?

I got to the office—still nothing. My coworkers acted like it was just another Tuesday. I started thinking maybe I had the wrong date or something.

Then, just as I was about to give up on the day completely, my assistant smiled and said, “Happy birthday, boss!”

Finally! Someone remembered.

She offered to take me out to lunch, and honestly, I needed the pick-me-up. We had a great meal, laughed a bit, and then she asked if I wanted to stop by her apartment afterward.

Five minutes later, she walks out of the bedroom—with a massive smile—followed by my wife, my kids, my parents, my friends, and my entire office staff yelling:

“SURPRISE!!!”

Yeah. I was sitting on her couch.
Completely naked.

Moral of the story?
Maybe wait until the cake shows up before you start unwrapping anything.
